J.C. Johnson, Sr. was born in Calvert, Texas January 20, 1950. Elder Johnson is the oldest of four children to the late Mother Mae Dell Young. Elder Johnson's God-fearing mother kept a lasting influence upon his life.
Elder Johnson grew up in Abilene Texas. Upon graduation from Abilene High School, Elder Johnson attended Cisco Junior College, Cisco Texas majoring in Law Enforcementand Criminal Justice. After completing two years of study at Cisco Junior College Elder Johnson enlisted in the United States Army. Military duty transferred Elder Johnson to Schwfurt, Germany for two years.
Returning to Abilene after his tour of duty Elder Johnson attended McMurry University, Abilene Texas , where he received a Degree in Criminal Justice. Also during this time frame Elder Johnson met the former Bayonne Stimpson and on December 11, 1970 they married. From this union, God blessed them with one son and two daughters. Pastor and First Lady Johnson are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.
Under the pastorship of the late R.L. Williams under the Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ Elder Johnson served at Bethel COGIC as a Deacon for fifteen years. In 1996 Elder Johnson accepted his call into the Gospel ministry, and was licensed to preach. January 29, 2000 Elder Johnson was ordained as an Elder. October 27, 2000 during Elder Johnson's fellowship and retirement banquet from the Abilene Police Department the late Prelate Bishop W.H. Watson, Texas Northwest COGIC appointed Elder J.C. Johnson, Sr. to the office of Pastor at Bethel COGIC in Abilene Texas.
Elder Johnson serves the Church of God In Christ at the Jurisdictional level. He holds or has held several offices in the Texas Northwest Jurisdiction, headquartered in Lubbock Texas.
Elder Johnson is a man of compassion who appreciates God's Word. He has a love for ALL; especially God's people. Elder Johnson is truly a man after God's own Heart!
